Thanks for joining me!

I am glad you are here. My name is Laura, but my friends call me Barbie. Which means, were friends now! Let me start off by saying I am not a writer. So if bad grammer, sentence fragments, punctuation, lost train of thought, slang, maybe a little swearing here and there or anything along those lines will bug you….I am sorry, this might not be your place.

Art is my thing, and artists….well, we aren’t always great at that sort of thing. I have been a crafty DIY-er since before DIY was a thing. I loved getting those “make your own” kits as a kid, I was the first to the craft table in school or at camp and today I cannot pass up any chance to make something. My husband and I try to do any home project ourselves before we ever even think about hiring someone to do it. This may have gotten us into trouble a few times resulting in late nights and lot of drinking, but in the end almost all the time, we complete it. You are able to step back and say, we did that ourselves.

I also love shopping and I love designer things. But I hate spending a lot of money on anything…it’s always been my personal saying that I don’t pay full price for anything. And I usually don’t! This is one of my mottos to live by, and I try to stick to it as best I can. My mom had me at garage sales and thrift stores as early as I can remember. I love a good sale rack and I always try to seek out the cheaper option. I am not afraid to shop at Walmart and honestly I have met plenty of people who are! A lot of my friends ask me where I get things and when I say the thrift store they tell me “you are the only one that finds that kind of stuff there!” I promise you I am not. Wanting to save money by doing things yourself or finding another way to purchase something than brand new at the store, takes a little time and creativity!

Now it’s time to go on this journey with me. I hope you find something you like here and that I can pass off my experiences and knowledge to you. Now let’s start saving money doing house projects, crafts, and restoring the old and broken to feel new again!
