I have been obsessed with anything chunky knit for awhile now. However, anything along the lines of chunky yarn seems to be so expensive! So I’ve waited probably past the trend of the chunky blankets and rugs, but I usually tend to be behind the trends anyway. But the price kept me from trying anything at all. I went a little crazy a couple weeks ago at Michaels Craft store when I found these for $9.98!! You heard me right….and they are originally $35.99. Let’s be real though, nothing at Michaels is ever full price. BUT $9.98!! It’s called Loops & Threads Wild & Free. (Ok a little disclaimer…the reason they were so cheap was because the discontinued them. Kind of what I was thinking, but I have a feeling they will bring them back but different colors. Either way, the link takes you to the exact same product on Amazon. It’s on sale right now too!) I bought 14 of them. Two blues (only one was used for this rug) 6 cream, and 4 dark gray ones. I went back and bought two more light grays. The nice thing about this one is that it’s not going to fray. Some of the other fake wool type ones tend to fall apart a little, but also I knew this would go in my daughters room and she would slowly rip it apart.
My first tutorial! Bear with me guys. This was the turning moment where I was like, ok I am doing this blog thing. Because sometimes I want to make something really bad and ALL the tutorials out there….suck. I watched 3 different videos and pieced parts of each together to get through this. I’ll get better I promise. They are broken into step by step because I had to go back and watch a different video before I started the next row.
Also, a little plug here, I rarely start a craft without cracking open a bottle of wine from Wine Insider, poured into my Brümate!! I have so many of these cups and we use them for everything!
